What the coast is doing right now
Live conditions for nine places around the Lombok coast, updated continuously. Wind is the number that matters most to a paddler — so it is the one we put front and centre.
Tap any place to see its seven-day outlook. The wind guide is a rule of thumb from wind speed alone — Light up to 12 km/h, Breezy to 20, Choppy to 30, Strong above 30. It is not a go or no-go decision: your guide makes that call on the morning, looking at swell, tide and forecast together. Data from Open-Meteo, times in WITA (UTC+8).
What the numbers mean on the water
A forecast that looks identical on paper can make for a completely different day depending on which coast you are on.
Sekotong and Lembar
The sheltered south-west bay. Islands break up the fetch, so 20 km/h here is far more comfortable than the same wind on an open coast. This is where we run grade 1 and 2 days.
The south coast
Selong Belanak and Kuta face open ocean and pick up southern swell year round. Wind and waves build fast in the afternoon — morning is almost always the better half of the day.
North and east
Tanjung, Labuhan Lombok and Tanjung Luar sit in the strait. Tidal streams matter as much as wind here, and they do not show up in any forecast.
The pattern behind the forecast
April to November is the dry season: settled water, light mornings, and the most reliable paddling of the year. December to March is the west monsoon — afternoon rain, swell on the exposed coast, and murkier water in the shallows. Day trips still run on protected days; multi-day trips pause.
